Kulsoom and Avinash began their training with the Lotus Nei Gong International School of Internal Arts (Lotus Nei Gong) in 2013. They completed a 2.5 year Qigong Teacher training course with Lotus Nei Gong in 2017, and are recognized as Nei Gong Teachers in the school. They have continued their studies with Damo Mitchell and Paul Mitchell in the U.S., Europe, and the U.K. The couple’s personal studies include Nei Gong, Yang style Taiji Quan, martial arts, and meditative practices.
Kulsoom has a Doctorate in Classical Chinese Medicine, and has practiced in the field for 9 years. Her foray in the internal arts began with a multi-year study of Chen style Taiji Quan, followed by exploration of Qigong and meditation. Her dedication to the internal arts was cemented after the profound internal and external changes she observed with consistent practice. The internals arts serve as a tool for self cultivation and also support her in her practice of Chinese Medicine.
Avinash began his journey in the internal arts 25 years ago by studying methods in mindfulness meditation, zen meditation, and martial arts as well as various spiritual traditions and principles. Eventually he came across Qigong and Nei Gong, and began studying with Damo Mitchell during one of Damo's early visits to the United States. With Nei Gong, Avinash found a deep connection to the internal arts, and noticed that his studies led to self-transformation. Avinash moved to Europe, continuing his studies of Nei Gong with Damo and began studying Taiji Quan with Paul Mitchell. With Taiji, Avinash has been able to strengthen and rehabilitate various body functions, improving balance, coordination, and agility and deepen his mind-body connection. Avinash currently resides in Europe, and has deepened his studies of Nei Gong and Taiji under the guidance of Paul and Damo Mitchell. He is deeply grateful to Damo and Paul for their guidance and friendship in the pursuit of these arts.
